I've never been to Europe before, but my parents, sister, and I are going in May right after graduation. My family is Armenian and my dad really wants my sister and I to go to Armenia with him while our schedules are still simple enough to do so. This is actually a very special year for us to travel to Armenia as the country is celebrating 100 years of independence. I actually have a few Armenian friends from USC who are also traveling to Armenia to celebrate too!
During World War 1, nearly 1.5 million Armenians were killed in the Armenian Genocide under the Ottoman Empire. In 1918 the Armenian people were declared a sovereign people for the first time since 1375. I'm really excited to go to Armenia with my family and friends and learn more about the war, culture, and of course eat some good food.
We are also going to London and Paris and I am meeting up with some sorority sisters in Italy at the end. If you have been to any of these places and have recommendations for things to do or places to eat, feel free to comment below!
Hey Kelly,
ReplyDeleteThat's so exciting that you're going to Armenia during such an important time! One of my best friends from high school is Armenian, and her family has educated me a lot about the Armenian Genocide. I've been to London and Paris before, and I can tell you without a doubt, you'll have an amazing time! If you like Indian food, London has a lot of great Indian restaurants. I definitely recommend checking out Street Feast or Borough Market for other amazing food. As for Paris, you can't go wrong with Brie, baguettes, and wine!
Hi Kelly!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun! I'm excited for you and your family to be in Armenia for this joyous occasion. I've actually been to Paris a handful of times and would love to give you some suggestions! My favorite restaurant is called Le Récamier which is close to Le Bon Marché (a very nice mall). Le Récamier is known for its soufflés, so I highly recommend getting a salty one for dinner and then a sweet one for dessert. They are delicious! In terms of sights to see, if you have the chance to leave Paris there's a castle called Vaux le Vicomte about an hour outside the city which is so beautiful. At night, they light candles all over it and it is absolutely beautiful.
Where in Italy are you going?
Hi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteWish you have a great trip in London and Paris.

Hey Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI'm also Armenian and I traveled to Armenia the summer before going into my senior year of high school. Armenia was the first country outside of the U.S. that I visited. I loved the city of Yerevan and hope you have an amazing time. I also studied abroad in London and have been to Paris and Italy several times. I can definitely give you a list of recommendations!
Hi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteWow, this Europe trip sounds so exciting! I've also never been to Europe before, but I've heard that it is absolutely amazing.
Hope you have an amazing trip!
Hi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI also haven't been to Europe before, but it sounds so much fun! I actually plan to go to Europe with my sister next year!
I hope you have a great trip!!
Hey Kelly,
ReplyDeleteYour trip sounds absolutely amazing! I am so glad you are finally going to armenia, and how special to go during the 100th anniversary! I studied abroad in Paris and have LOTS of recommendations for you. In Paris, use the metro to go everywhere or walk, because the stops take you to the hearts of each arrondissement. I love La Marais and L'als falafels (so good!). Pierre Hermes has amazing macaroons (I argue better than Laudere), Angelinas has amazing Hot Chocolate, and L'eclair has the most amazing diversity of awesome eclairs. My favorite museum was L'orangerie and Musee D'Orsay! They are beautiful and a must see in an addition to the Louvre. Hotel del Cite is also a cool area to walk around, and avenue bosquet in the 7th has great restaurants and is near the eiffle tower. Honestly, just walk around the entire city starting from the city center and out, and you will fall in love with Paris jus as much as I did! Hope this helps a little bit, sorry if I got carried away!
P.S. The Saint Chapel across from the Notre Damn has arguably the most beautiful stain glass in all of paris. It is a must see!
